NAB National Volunteer Awards 2006 National Winner
SVP was judged the national winner in the Education, Training and Youth Development category in 2006.
NAB National Volunteer Awards 2003, 2005 and 2006 State Winner
SVP was judged the state winner for WA in the Education, Training and Youth Development category in 2003, 2005 anf 2006. This was a wonderful achievement as over 3,000 nominations were received. The valuable work of SVP mentors is helping children maximise their potential, encourage their love of learning and improve their selfconfidence.

Awarded to Christine Gray - the School Volunteer Program
WA Seniors Awards 2000, 2003 and 2004
In 2000, SVP was runner-up in the Exceptional Organisation Award section. This
was a wonderful achievement as many entries were received for this particular
category. In 2003 Christine Gray, Executive Officer of SVP, was runner-up under
the Award of Excellence category and was the winner in 2004. This category
recognises outstanding service to seniors by individuals under the age of 60,
who have dedicated their time to helping seniors.
WA Citizen of the Year Award 2000 - 'Gold Swan Award'
This award honours a voluntary service organisation which demonstrates outstanding concern for the community
it serves and delivers that service effectively, to improve the lives and opportunities of West Australians.
SVP was very proud to have been honoured with this award in June 2000.
Nation Community Links Awards 2000 - State Winner Community Service
This award is for not-for-profit organisations that are responsive to community
needs and recognises the value of volunteering within our communities. SVP was
named as the Western Australian state winner in this category.
Community Services Industry Awards 2004 - Strengthening Volunteering
These awards by the Department for Community Development recognise the achievements of services, businesses,
groups and people who work to help build a better Western Australia. SVP won the Strengthening Volunteering
category in 2004.
Australian Violence Prevention Awards 1995/96/97
Selected by the Australian Heads of Government, SVP received Australian
Violence Prevention Awards in 1995, 1996 and 1997. SVP was recognised as being a major contributor to reducing violence in our
community. This is a direct reflection of the calming influence that mentors are having on the young people in the program.
National Excellence in Teaching (NEiTA) 1997
The NeiTA Foundation is a national not-for-profit organisation, which is dedicated to the recognition of excellence in teaching. In
1997, Mrs Pat Lennon, the SVP Teacher Coordinator at Lynwood Senior High School was nominated by the 25 volunteers working
at the school and consequently received an 'Excellence in Teaching' Award.
These awards were won due to the dedication and efforts of the volunteer mentors and also through the commitment made by
schools to ensure that students have access to a valuable community resource, which assists them to keep up with their peers.
