Become an SVP Member School

The following process is followed to become a member school. The School Volunteer Program works together with your school to implement the program.

  1. Your school contacts SVP and a meeting is arranged with the Principal to outline the program.
  2. A representative from SVP presents an Introduction Workshop to all staff. If your school decides to join SVP, the registration form and membership fee is forwarded.
  3. A School Coordinator is chosen from your staff. It is recommended that the coordinator be allocated time to organise the selected students and to support the volunteer mentors.
  4. A meeting is scheduled with the School Coordinator and SVP to facilitate the students selection and matching process.
  5. Volunteer Mentors are recruited from the local community. SVP screen and train the mentors.
  6. SVP ensure mentors comply with current Working with Children Legislation. Mentors details and signed Confidential Declaration Form are supplied to the school.
  7. The School Coordinator contacts the volunteers and co-ordinated the timetable.
  8. The volunteers commence mentoring in your school.

Throughout the process SVP staff members extend support to all stakeholders by, facilitating free Information Workshops for volunteers and School Coordinators and assisting in the implementation of the program. SVP offer a presentation to the schools P&C or P&F if required.
The school will receive quarterly newsletters and become part of a vast network of schools that benefit from joining this dynamic organisation.

To become an SVP Member School email us at svpwa@svp.org.au and our staff will contact you with more details and arrange to visit your school.
